A ballsy North Carolina Mayor is refusing to resign after the Council’s no confidence vote following his “pants down” escapade at city hall. A Florida city manager was fired after she fired three employees who fudged on their timecards. In an odd story, a New Hampshire manager will not face criminal charges after trying to help a resident get welfare benefits. And we have a Texas city manager facing an extremely serious health issue.
All that and more news after the job postings.

NC: Visibly Erect at City Hall: Mooresville Mayor Refuses Calls to Resign
Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney has turned his town into a circus. As previously covered in the newsletter (here and here), he was caught on video with his pants down at city hall — visibly erect — accompanied by another woman who was…ahem…providing him with some moral support.
Well, the Council passed a 4-2 “no confidence” vote calling upon him to resign.
Channeling his best Leonardo DiCaprio “Wolf of Wall Street” impression, Carney says “he ain’t leaving.” This clip is definitely NSFW.
“There is nothing that came out last night that would make me believe that should be an option,” Carney said in an interview with The Charlotte Observer at Town Hall.
“We’ve never had more companies looking at Mooresville than right now,” he said. “We’ve never had more employees looking at Mooresville than right now. We’ve never had more road money. I’ll take that scorecard all day long.”
This guy scores during the day and at night, in the industrial park and on Main Street — and most importantly — at City Hall, baby!
FL: Williston city manager fired after inappropriately firing 3 employees
Updating a previous story about the termination of Sue Beaudet. Less than a year in, she had been skating on thin ice when the council previously voted to extend her probationary period. We all know that that is never a good sign.
Anyway, she had the audacity to fire some employees who misstated the hours worked on their timecard.
TX: Bryan City Manager Andrew Nelson diagnosed with a mass in his brain
Prayers up for Andrew Nelson. The Bryan city manager has received some very concerning health news.
“Andrew Nelson is one of the strongest, most dedicated public servants I know,” Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez said. “He leads with conviction, serves with heart and has given everything he has to this city. Right now, Bryan is standing with Andrew and his family in prayer, in hope and in unwavering support.”
