A town manager in Florida went to local police to report threats allegedly made by the mayor. A Missouri manager resigned and got piled on by the former fire chief who slammed her toxic leadership. And a North Carolina manager gets blasted by multiple commissioners over his continued refusals to consult with the board before taking action.
All that and more news after the job postings.

FL: Pembroke Park town manager says he fears for his life after alleged call with mayor
Pembroke Park pretty much has an asshole for a mayor and I have spotlighted him before in either a newsletter or standalone post on LinkedIn. So, I can understand why the town manager is fearful for his life and you will too after you watch this new video report all the way to the end.
The mayor may not live in the city limits based on the discovery of a homestead tax exemption for a primary residence located in another part of Florida. It appears the mayor believes Lynch tipped the press off and he is furious. However, Lynch maintains he had nothing to do with the report.
KS: New Olathe city manager takes office, contract details emerge
New Olathe city manager Susan Sherman is set to make $280,000 in her first year in the role. She was earning $257,000 as the deputy city manager to Michael Wilkes who had served in the role since 1999 and was making $324,000. Wilkes was the highest paid municipal employee in Kansas.
Based on 2024 salaries, Sherman would now be the eighth highest paid city employee in the state, and the third highest paid city manager behind Overland Park ($299,000) and Wichita ($296,000), according to KansasOpenGov.org.
NE: Falls City administrator resigns; career path no longer aligns with family goals
Hired in 2022, Falls City Administrator Anthony Nussbaum is tapping out. In his resignation letter he said that the job requires “sacrifices that are no longer compatible with the balance, presence and stability he wants to prioritize. Choosing family wellbeing and long-term sustainability the right decision for me at this point in may life.”
