A city manager is likely to lose his job after being suspended for sending vulgar text messages that disparaged a resident. A South Carolina town has fired their administrator and his wife after they duked it out in a physical confrontation at city hall. A Canadian mayor wants his city to store cash reserves in bitcoin. And a county administrator who helped the father of one of his electeds get a job is being scrutinized by the local paper.

All that and more news after the job postings.

NJ: Vulgar Text Messages Likely to Cost City Manager His Job

Clifton City Manager Gary DeMarzo has been suspended and reprimanded after his texts with a city resident, in which he disparaged several other residents, came to light. Another individual has also filed a tort claim seemingly related to this matter, though I am not sure how.

After suspending DeMarzo “based on his misuse of city property to send the messages,” the council voted to conduct a national search to seek out his replacement. However, he can apply for his job they say…

OR: Clackamas County Administrator Grilled by Local Paper Over Job Given to Father of Elected Official

Clackamas County Commissioner Ben West’s father started a $33-an-hour job last month, not long after West told County Administrator Gary Schmidt that his father was looking for work. The job was not posted publicly and filled without a formal recruitment.

Schmidt said he checked with his staff who told him “there was a need” for a maintenance specialist.

“My staff called Tom West directly and interviewed him,” Schmidt said.
