Lying Cop(s) in Florida | 6/24/2026

In March, Walton County Undersheriff Donnie Clark was deposed by my criminal defense attorney, Katie Bogenschutz. I will present evidence showing that Clark lied, possibly multiple times, and that his testimony directly contradicted the testimony provided by Keith Riddick, the Chief of Investigations for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

First, some context is needed.

In December 2023, former Walton County administrator Quinn Robertson requested a meeting with Clark for the purposes of requesting an investigation into a potential criminal conspiracy that included Commissioner Danny Glidewell and a former employee. Robertson and I had seen material on a county-owned iPad that was issued to this employee who had synced his personal iCloud account to the device.

Instead of investigating the commissioner, who was once a deputy in their department, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) opened an investigation into our actions in January 2024. We were initially charged with two felony counts in March 2025, with one of the charges being the interception of text message communications. About six weeks ago, we were charged with an additional 32 felonies - one for each text message we allegedly intercepted.

In February 2024, Clark asked the FDLE to take over the investigation because they believed the investigation would possibly result in the investigation of another commissioner who just…ahem…coincidentally happened to be our biggest advocate.

I am going to focus on three major points in this update:

I have stated multiple times that we were never investigated by any law enforcement agency or investigator before we were charged with these crimes and I am going to prove it with the documents/screenshots below.

First up is a letter from Undersheriff Clark to the FDLE. Note that his title changed from “Chief Deputy” to “Undersheriff” during this period, but he was always the second-in-command to the sheriff.

It plainly states that they only conducted a “cursory investigation” and that an “independent” investigation by the FDLE is need to determine if “criminal liability” exists.

Now, I will present a couple of screenshots of the Riddick deposition transcripts wherein he states he never investigated either of us.

I can also add that to date no evidence has been turned over through discovery that reveals any investigation into our actions by an investigator associated with the prosecutor’s office.

To summarize, we have a “cursory investigation” by the WCSO, absolutely no investigative work done by the FDLE or the prosecutor.

I sure as hell would love to know how we can be charged with a crime — let alone 34 felonies.

C. Miles Marthinsen is the WCSO detective who used a false police report filed by the former employee as the basis or predicate to investigate us for these alleged crimes. The former employee lied and stated that his personal iPad had been stolen in a police report. This report was filed a week after we turned in the iPad to the WCSO because we wanted them to review the contents and investigate and Marthinsen was given documentation that proved the county owned the device.

In the deposition, my attorney asked Clark if Marthinsen had any issues with his polygraph examination. Here is a screenshot:

That’s a curious answer since the human resources manager sent Clark an email stating that she wanted to disqualify Marthinsen because there were integrity concerns about his polygraph.

But the following example is extremely problematic.

You see, Riddick claims that it was communicated to him by Clark that he needed to investigate Johns instead of investigating us. He didn’t just say it that one time in the screenshot above from Page 62-63 of the deposition.

He didn’t even say it two times…but at least three separate instances in the deposition. Here are some additional screenshots:

However, Clark claims he never interacted with Riddick multiple times.

Say what!?

Now it is possible that Clark is telling the truth and Riddick is lying.

But I already know that Clark is a scumbag who lied about the Marthinsen polygraph. And there is another important detail that Clark lied about in this deposition that I do not want to divulge at this time.

So far — Riddick seems very credible at this point in time. Back in November when he was deposed, we felt that his testimony was do damaging that the prosecutor was going to obviously see that he needed to dismiss the case.

Riddick stated that he told the prosecutor that there wasn’t a case against us and that he didn’t think the case was going anywhere. How the prosecutor thinks he could come back from that is beyond us. But the important aspect of this testimony is that the prosecutor never contested it and he has never filed a Brady/Giglio motion to impeach the testimony of Riddick or accuse him of lying which he is required to do if Riddick was in fact lying.

It is an absolutely surreal and disheartening experience to have the justice system weaponized against you and have your life turned upside down for nearly 18 months by a vindictive prosecutor.

Next week on June 30th, my motion to have the case dismissed on the basis of vindictive prosecution is slated to be heard. It is possible that my case could be dismissed then — but at this point I will not get my hopes up.
