OH: Fiscal officer who tried to spend nearly $10M on gold coins removed from office

A judge has removed Miami Township Fiscal Officer Robert Matthews from public office after he attempted to invest nearly $10 million in gold coins. Matthews is an elected official.

The township’s finance director blocked the transaction after the bank told him about the attempted purchase. In fairness to Ol’ Bob, the price of gold has risen dramatically since March 2025 and his investment would have earned a phenomenal return.

NY: Walden Village Manager and Orange County Elected Official Indicted on Federal Tax Fraud Charges

Orange County legislator and Walden village manager John Revella is accused of hiding $1.1 million in income and underpaying more than $383,000 in taxes, according to the United States Attorneys Office press release.

When he is not serving as an elected official and the village manager, he practices law, which is where he allegedly earned and did not report his income.

Residents furious as N.J. town manager racks up $813K in comp time working ‘crazy hours.’ Will he cash in?

What in the heck!

Ringwood taxpayers may be on the hook for more than $800,000 when Borough Manager Scott Heck retires and cashes out the comp time he has accumulated over 30 years of working for the organization.

But they should not fear as he has offered up a compromise — forfeiture of the comp time in exchange for lifetime health insurance benefits. Residents are furious and asking how it was possible for an employee to amass such a large amount of comp time.
