Some interesting contract details worth highlighting in Beverly Hills, California. A public sector executive stops a blistering slap shot from a former professional hockey player. In Florida, a female executive finally taps out after being mercilessly attacked for months by members of the governing body. And fewer than 4% of city and county managers are black.

All that and more news after the job postings.

I have not seen the actual contract, but some other details are listed in the article.

MI: Washtenaw County officials looking to mentor the next generation of African American city managers

Of almost 10,000 local governments in the U.S. that have hired a city manager, fewer than 4% are African American.

Ann Arbor City Administrator Milton Dohoney Jr. and Washtenaw County Administrator Gregory Dill recently spoke to the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce about their positions. Dohoney says it’s important to help cultivate the next generation of managers.

“I’ve had some success with it, really helping people to achieve their aspirations, and I’m glad to invest time in people that want to do that.”

MA: Marblehead town administrator Thatcher Kezer, 65, takes the net against Bruins alumni

Marblehead’s town administrator suited up in net for Salem State University’s alumni-and-friends team in a special exhibition game against the Boston Bruins alumni. The event raises money for Salem State, where Thatcher Kezer is an alumnus and trustee.

Kezer plays hockey two to four times a week. For Kezer, one moment stood out.

“Stopping a one-timer from Ken Hodge right in front of the net was certainly a highlight,” he said. “On the ice he asked me, ‘How the hell did you stop that shot?’ I told him, jokingly, that I had no idea because my eyes were closed.”
