Today, we have a crybaby mayor calling 9-1-1 on his administrator all because of the agenda. A California manager says she refused to be bullied by the police officers association and then later announces she is retiring. And a county manager had his attorney attend the public meeting where his contract was being negotiated.
All that and more news after the job postings.

FL: Manatee County administrator sends his attorney to negotiate contract at public meeting
Manatee County officials all say they want to keep their county administrator, Charlie Bishop. They just want to tweak somethings first. Slated to have his salary bumped to $255,000, Bishop is said to be nearing retirement in 2-3 years.
Interestingly, he sent his attorney to the meeting in which he did not attend to negotiate terms of his contract. His attorney said “there was a discussion that occurred...that recommended that legal counsel be here instead, and so I think he feels a bit awkward being here.”
I highlight this article because I think it is appropriate and should be more commonplace for executives to have a negotiator work on their behalf during contract negotiations.
TX: Call the Whaaaaaaambulance! Mayor Calls 9-1-1 on Administrator Over Agenda Setting Kerfuffle
I wish I could make these headlines up — but they are really true.
Haslet City Administrator Joe Ashton had only been on the job for about 5 weeks when his mayor called 9-1-1 on him. Yeah — that happened. You see, Mayor Gary ‘Crybaby’ Hulsey felt that he should set the agenda and demanded that Ashton leave the city secretary’s office.
Ashton stood his ground. He called the mayor’s conflict resolution attempt “unorthodox.”
CA: Richmond city manager Shasa Curl tells police she won’t be ‘bullied’ as she announces retirement
I am not sure you can say that you are not going to be bullied at the same time you are announcing your retirement — even if it is several months in the offing.
Richmond City Manager Shasa Curl has been embroiled in a major battle with their police officers association regarding the reinstatement of three officers involved in a fatal shooting.
